President Droupadi Murmu is set to make history as she flies a sortie on the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft on April 8, 2023, at the Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam. This move follows the footsteps of former president Pratibha Patil, who had flown in the frontline fighter aircraft in 2009.
During her visit to Assam from April 6 to 8, President Murmu will also inaugurate the Gaj Utsav-2023 at the Kaziranga National Park on April 7. This event aims to raise awareness about elephant conservation in the region. Moreover, she will also flag off the Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition-2023, demonstrating her support for adventure tourism.
On the same day, she will also grace the function organized to mark the completion of 75 years of the Gauhati High Court at Guwahati. It is an essential milestone in the region’s legal history and marks the progress made in ensuring justice for all.
President Murmu’s decision to fly a sortie on the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft is a bold move that will inspire young women in India to pursue their dreams regardless of their gender. This gesture demonstrates that women can excel in any field they choose, including those previously dominated by men.
