Nicole Kidman – one of Hollywood’s celebrated names has turned 55 today! This eminent star started her journey on the silver screen only at the age of 16 and ever since then she has been thriving in the film industry. Throughout her career, she has been honored with various esteemed awards for her brilliant performance in a wide range of films. Along with an Academy Award, and a British Academy Film Award, she is also the recipient of six Golden Globe Awards.

  1. The Hours (2002) 

In this movie, Kidman played the role of the English author, Virginia Woolf. Her brilliant portrayal of Woolf overcoming depression while writing a book earned the actress an Academy Award for Best Actress for the film. 

2. Moulin Rouge (2001) 

This jukebox musical romantic drama depicts the story of a British writer falling in love with a cabaret dancer. Kidman did a fantastic job in the role of a cabaret dancer, which made the film a must-watch for all. 

3. Dogville (2003) 

This Danish film is considered Kidman’s one of the best performances. In this film, she collaborated with international directors. Here, Kidman plays the role of a woman, who seeks refuge in a Colorado mountain town in order to hide from mobsters. The film was highly appreciated and loved by the viewers.

4. The Paperboy (2012) 

This American crime drama is based on Pete Dexter’s 1995 novel of the same name, which was inspired by a true story. It follows a Miami reporter who returns to his hometown in Florida to investigate a murder case involving a death row inmate. Undoubtedly, Kidman in the role of Charlotte Bless was magnificent. 

5. Lion (2016)

Lion is based on the novel A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierly. Apart from Nicole Kidman, the cast also includes Dev Patel and Rooney Mara. The story of this film revolves around the main character Saroo, a five-year-old child who gets taken away from his home in India. Kidman, here, played the role of Saroo’s adoptive mother. The outstanding storyline and spectacular performance of the actors managed this film to get a few Oscar nominations.
