22-year-old Naina Jaiswal becomes India’s youngest female PhD holder

Naina Jaiswal, an international table tennis player, has become one of the youngest women in India to complete a Ph.D. degree at just 22 years old. She accomplished this milestone at Adikavi Nannaya University in Andhra Pradesh, India, while also pursuing her sports career and planning to pursue civil services in the future.
Jaiswal, who completed her 10th grade at the University of Cambridge in London at just eight years old, enrolled for a Ph.D. at Adikavi Nannaya University when she was only 16 years old. Her thesis, titled “A study on the role of microfinance in women’s empowerment with reference to the Mahabubnagar district of Telangana state” focused on the significance of microfinance in poverty eradication, employment generation, and women’s empowerment in developing countries like India.
Speaking about her achievement, Jaiswal credited her parents for their unwavering support in her education, sports, and music. Her parents have been homeschooling her since childhood and instilled in her a love for education, creativity, and knowledge.
Jaiswal’s future plans include focusing on her sports career, participating in international tournaments and the Commonwealth Games, and pursuing civil services.
