Bread is a universal staple, cherished in kitchens worldwide. Diverse cultures have their own unique bread variations, and India, in particular, boasts a rich tapestry of bread options, from simple rotis to flavorful naans, kulchas, and parathas. Taste Atlas, a renowned food and travel guide, has recently unveiled its prestigious list of the “50 best breads in the world,” and India shines with five distinct bread entries.

Butter Garlic Naan, a beloved favorite, secured an impressive third-place ranking on the global list. Notably, it previously claimed the second spot in Taste Atlas’ compilation of the “50 best flatbreads in the world.” This delectable bread pairs wonderfully with dishes like Paneer Butter Masala, Mushroom Masala, and Dal Makhani.

Plain naan, a close relative of the garlic variant, earned the eighth spot on the list and also ranked fourth in Taste Atlas’ list of the best flatbreads globally.

Amritsari Kulcha proudly represented India, claiming the 26th spot, while Roti and Paratha secured the 27th and 29th positions, respectively. Roti and Paratha hold an indispensable place in India’s daily cuisine, complementing a wide array of dishes.

The top spot on the list was seized by Roti Canai, a Malaysian delicacy. Colombia’s Pan De Bono and Iran’s Nan E Barbari clinched the second and fourth positions. South America’s Pan De Yuca and Italy’s Focaccia Di Recco Col Formaggio held the fifth and sixth places. French Baguette and Italy’s Piadina Romagnola claimed the seventh and ninth spots, respectively, while Tarte Flambee secured the tenth position. The list also featured various breads from around the world, including Talo, Nan-e Shirmal, Lavash, Somun, Chipa, and Mekica.
