Women worldwide still contend with perplexing rules governing their everyday lives, dictating everything from their attire to their freedom of movement. These regulations, enforced by various authorities, serve to confine women within narrow societal expectations.

In India, a contentious ruling by the Madhya Pradesh High Court sparked debate by stating that certain sexual acts between spouses don’t qualify as rape. This decision raised significant questions about marital consent and underscored the need for legal protections against marital rape.

In Kerala, the imposition of an additional fee for disposing of sanitary products faced legal challenges, highlighting concerns about access to essential hygiene items for women.

In Afghanistan, women endure stringent restrictions under the Taliban regime, including bans on education and employment. Recent crackdowns on women for minor dress code violations underscore the ongoing struggle for women’s rights in the country.

Similarly, in Iran, women face intensified enforcement of strict dress codes, often resulting in harassment and arbitrary detentions by morality police.

Leaders such as Vladimir Putin of Russia and Kim Jong Un of North Korea have called on women to have more children to address demographic concerns. However, this approach overlooks broader societal issues and places undue burden on women.

In the European Union, proposals to ban religious attire in government offices raise concerns about religious freedom and discrimination against minority groups.

These examples highlight the enduring challenges faced by women globally. By advocating for fairness and equality, we can strive towards a more inclusive and just society for all.
