India’s U-17 Women’s National Team gears up for AFC Asian Cup Qualifier Round 1

PV Priya, the head coach of India’s U-17 Women’s National Team, has announced a 23-member squad for the Women’s U-17 AFC Asian Cup Qualifier Round 1. The tournament will take place in the Kyrgyz Republic from April 24, 2023. India will compete in Group F alongside the Kyrgyz Republic and Myanmar. The team’s first match will be against the hosts on April 26, followed by a game against Myanmar on April 28.

The Young Tigresses have been preparing for this tournament since their last performance at the SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship, where they secured the third position. The team has been training and residing at the Emerald Heights International School in Indore. On Monday, the team was recognized by Mr. Lokendra Verma, Secretary of, the District Football Association, Indore, for their hard work and dedication. The squad is made up of three goalkeepers, eleven defenders, seven midfielders, and two forwards. This team has several promising players, including Nongmeikapam Shibani Devi, Lourembam Menaka Devi, and Shivani Toppo, who are all midfielders. The team’s defense is also solid, with players such as Yendrembam Thoi Thoi Devi, Toijam Thoibisana Chanu, and Heena Khatun.
