PGI Promotes Scientific Yoga Benefits

PGI (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) is taking steps to highlight the benefits of scientific yoga for patient caregivers. In preparation for International Yoga Day on June 21, 2023, the CCRYN-Collaborative Centre for Mind-Body Intervention through Yoga at PGIMER has announced a series of events and initiatives.
The celebrations include workshops on yogic cleansing practices and a satvic diet, aiming to teach participants how to detoxify their bodies and minds. Dr. Akshay Anand, professor in charge of the CCRYN Yoga Centre at PGI, recognizes the stress and anxiety experienced by caregivers who await medical tests, treatments, surgeries, and outcomes. To address these challenges, the scientific benefits of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) are being introduced as a daily practice for 45 minutes.
PGI is proud to be the first institute worldwide to provide scientific evidence of CYP. Caregivers who have already experienced CYP acknowledge its effectiveness in relieving stress and anxiety while improving physical health. Based on their response, CYP may become a regular practice for wider benefits.
The CYP offered at PGI follows an evidence-based, protocolized approach extracted from the ashtanga scaffold of Patanjali’s yoga. The trainers leading the sessions are highly qualified, holding Level 2/3, BNYS, Master’s, and PhD degrees in yoga.
By providing free yoga classes open to all patients’ caregivers, regardless of age, fitness level, or gender, the scientific yoga trainers aim to create a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. No prior yoga experience is necessary to participate.
