Ida Tin’s “Dear Men” Series: Part 1of 29 – The First Period Explained
Dear Men, the next 29 posts will be for you.
Many years ago, one of my co-founders at Clue, Mike LaVigne, had the idea for a “Manly Guide to Periods.” I have borrowed and expanded his idea to tell you, a Man, what it feels like to live in a female body.
It’s a part of human life that you may not know intimately, but I think you want to know more about what it feels like to have a body that changes every day—sometimes able to build humans, among so many other things.
It’s a wild ride.
And, dear Women, do you want to help me tell Men what it feels like to have a female body?
My hope is that it will work like this: I write one post about each of 29 themes (see the list in the comments), and you, dear Women, add your experiences around that aspect in the comments. Remember, we are writing for Men to know and understand, so make sure to invite them into our world.
And Men, feel free to comment too.
Why? Because it is oddly invisible in our culture—what it feels like to live in a woman’s body (skipping over all the complexities of what it means to be a woman, who calls themselves women, and all of that—those are good and important conversations, but they are not the focus right now).
This invisibility isn’t helpful for either women or men. I believe that once we have full awareness of women’s life experiences, we will rebuild the world in substantial ways!
Women, please do help me! Here we go!
All the artwork you will see is by my dear boyfriend, Kyle Leuck ❤️
