Odisha’s addiction-free campaign launched by the President
President Droupadi Murmu has launched the “Addiction-Free Odisha” campaign aimed at combating drug abuse and promoting a healthy lifestyle in the state. The campaign, initiated by the Indian Red Cross Society, was launched during the President’s visit to Odisha on April 24th. The President is visiting Odisha (Rairangpur, Pahadpur, and Baripada in Mayurbhanj district) from 4 to 6 May.
During her speech, the President emphasized the need to address the growing problem of drug addiction in the state and its negative impact on society. She commended the state government’s efforts to combat drug abuse and called for a collaborative approach to tackle the issue.
The “Addiction-Free Odisha” campaign will focus on creating awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and encouraging people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The campaign will also provide counseling and rehabilitation services to those struggling with addiction.
The Indian Red Cross Society has partnered with various organizations, including the state government, civil society groups, and educational institutions, to launch the campaign. The society will also conduct awareness programs in schools and colleges to educate young people about the dangers of drug abuse.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who was also present at the launch event, expressed his gratitude to the President for supporting the campaign. He highlighted the state government’s efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle through various initiatives, including the “Mo School” campaign, which aims to improve the quality of education in government schools.
