Aditi Ashok, a 25-year-old Indian golfer, gave a stunning performance at the JM Eagle LA Championship on Sunday, finishing tied second, just one step away from her maiden LPGA title. Aditi was the 36-hole leader, played consistently throughout, and even shot a final round of 4-under 67 to finish at 9-under 275 for the tournament. However, her title hopes were dashed on the first playoff hole when her 15-foot putt lipped out. Australian golfer Hannah Green eventually won the tournament on the second extra hole with a tap-in. Despite the loss, Aditi expressed satisfaction with her performance and said, “Overall it was a good week. I’ve never played in this position on the LPGA, to be near the lead on the first day and stay there the whole tournament. I’m happy with the way I played.” Aditi had a bogey-free 5-under first round and followed it with a 1-under 70 to lead and make her first cut on the tour in 2023. This year has been quite fruitful for Aditi as she won her first Ladies European Tour (LET) event in five years at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in February. She also has three other top-10 finishes, making her the leader of the LET’s Race to Costa Del Sol. Aditi credits her off-season work, especially the improvement off the tee, for her recent success. “Just working on swing speed in the off-season, gained a lot of yardages, so that’s definitely helped,” she said.
