Ankita Shrivastava, a young athlete from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, is on the verge of making history by participating in the 24th World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia. At the 2019 edition of the games, she became the first and youngest Indian athlete to win a gold medal, and now she’s set to compete in the long jump and 100-meter sprint events in the hopes of winning double gold and creating history once again.

What makes Ankita’s achievements even more remarkable is the fact that she once donated 74% of her liver to her mother, who unfortunately passed away just seven months after the transplant. Despite this tragedy, Ankita didn’t give up on her dreams and trained tirelessly to compete in the World Transplant Games.

The event is a prestigious one, where athletes who have received heart, lung, kidney, pancreas, bone marrow, and stem cell transplants compete. In the upcoming 2023 edition, 3000 athletes will participate, and Ankita is determined to come out on top once again.
