Aparajita Rai’s remarkable journey shines as she emerged victorious not once, but twice in the UPSC Civil Services examination in 2010 and 2011. Her brilliance led to numerous awards during her IPS training, including trophies for Best Lady Outdoor Probationer and Field Combat, highlighting her exceptional skills. Beyond her accomplishments, Aparajita Rai played a vital role in uncovering cases of contraband smuggling.
Facing personal adversity early in life after losing her mother at the age of 8, Aparajita Rai was driven by a desire to bring positive change to government services. This determination led her to pursue civil services exams, ultimately making her Sikkim’s pioneering female IPS officer. Excelling in academics during her schooling, she further pursued an education in law, graduating with honors and even securing a Gold Medal in Public Administration and Jurisprudence.
While her initial attempt at the UPSC exam in 2009 wasn’t successful, Rai’s perseverance paid off in 2010 when she secured a rank of 768. Unrelenting in her pursuit of excellence, she continued her efforts and achieved a remarkable rank of 358 in 2011. Currently, Aparajita Rai is at the helm of the West Bengal cadre and continues to contribute her energy to sports as well, being a runner-up in the All India Police Badminton Championship.
