Best and Worst UFC Women’s Champions
In 2011, Dana White, UFC president, dismissed the idea of women fighting in the UFC, but that stance didn’t stand the test of time. Two years later, the Ronda Rousey experiment began, making her the bantamweight champion without a tournament. Rousey, a former 6-0 champion in Strikeforce who consistently finished her opponents in the first round, played a pivotal role in elevating women’s MMA’s relevance and popularity during her two-year, six-fight reign in the UFC.
Fast forward a decade, and the UFC now boasts four women’s weight classes and over 113 female fighters under contract. Throughout this time, only 15 women have claimed UFC gold.
