Black girls still fighting for equal education 70 years after Brown v. Board
During the civil rights era, many Black girls fought for equal education, facing danger.
After Brown v. Board of Education, schools were supposed to be fair for everyone. But even now, Black girls still face unfair treatment.
Though open discrimination is less common, unfair beliefs and practices still hurt Black girls. They get punished more than white girls for the same things.
Recent data shows that Black girls are punished much more than white girls. This has been happening for years.
These punishments can harm Black girls’ futures, pushing them towards trouble with the law.
To make things better, we need to listen to Black girls, change unfair practices, and support them in school.
