Book on COVID-19 Response in Western Maharashtra Inaugurated at JNU

A book titled “CARe (Covid Assistance Research documentation)” was released at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, by Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Honourable Union Minister for Science and Technology, and Dr. Shantishri Pandit, the Vice Chancellor of JNU. The book is co-authored by Nivedita Chitnis, Prajakta Parkale, and Ameya Karmalkar. The book launch was followed by a national conference on Disaster Resilient Methodologies for the pandemic

The book CARe (Covid Assistance Research documentation) is a compilation of successful systems that were implemented in western Maharashtra to control the spread of COVID-19. The book focuses on various measures such as vaccination, screening of people, telephonic psychological counseling, setting up COVID-19 care centers, and addressing challenges in the field of education in remote areas and slums. These initiatives were carried out by volunteers and unsung heroes who worked tirelessly to help communities during the pandemic.

Speaking at the book launch, Dr. Jitendra Singh commended the efforts of the authors and highlighted the importance of such documentation for future pandemics.

Dr. Shantishri Pandit, Vice Chancellor of JNU, expressed her appreciation for the book and emphasized the significance of disaster-resilient methodologies in pandemic situations.
