Renowned Bollywood playback singer Alka Yagnik has expressed surprise at the popularity of K-pop group BTS after learning that they had topped the highest YouTube streams chart. Yagnik, who has lent her voice to numerous hit Bollywood songs, admitted to having no prior knowledge of the group.

In an interview, Yagnik said, “I had no clue about BTS before this. But it’s great to see that music has become such a universal language and is bringing people together from all over the world.”

BTS, which stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, is a seven-member South Korean boy band that has gained immense popularity worldwide for its music and performances. The group has a massive fan following, with their fans known as the BTS Army.

Yagnik’s comment came after it was reported that BTS had topped the list of highest YouTube streams in a single day with their music video for “Butter.” The video received a staggering 108.2 million views on the day of its release, breaking several records in the process.

Yagnik’s observation highlights the growing trend of K-pop music and its impact on the global music scene. It also shows how music can transcend language and cultural barriers to bring people together.
