Pune Cake Artist’s Edible Monument Enters World Book of Records
Renowned cake artist Prachi Dhabal Deb, based in Pune, has added another feather to her cap by creating an edible monument, which has made it to the London-based World Book of Records. The structure measures 10 feet 1 inch in length, 4 feet 7 inches in height, and 3 feet 8 inches in width, and is made entirely of hand-piped icing in white. Weighing over 200 kg, it is the largest vegan royal icing hand-piped structure of its kind.
Prachi, Founder of Cake Décor India, has broken her own record from 2022 for creating the biggest Vegan Royal Icing Handpiped Structure, which was also an edible palace of Indian architecture. Her latest creation is not a replica of any particular palace but is inspired by various monuments and palaces from different parts of India.
In her interview with The Indian Express, Prachi shared her motivation for creating this monument. She said, “I wanted to make something dedicated to our beautiful architecture. We have so much beauty around India. I have made a lot of Indian architecture-based cakes which were not so huge in size. So, I always had a desire to make a palace…By the look of the icing structure in white, you can feel a glimpse of Indian architectural beauty.”
The entire structure, which stands without any cake, is edible and can last for years as a preserved structure due to the royal icing that has been used. It took Prachi three weeks to build the structure, and it is good enough for eating and consuming within a week.
