Can you not celebrate Valentine’s if you are single?

What thing comes to your mind when you think of Valentine’s day? A couple who love each other? Mostly, we think it is only for those who are having partners. But what about those people who are single or who lost their partner or who got separated from their partner. Should they feel sad about it that they can’t celebrate this special day just because they don’t have a “partner”? Well, not.

February is believed to be the month of love, it is dedicated to love. A time when we remember the love which plays a very important role in our life. We celebrate love on Valentine’s day and it’s not just not your partner you love, it is also your parents, your friends, the people you love. You can consider them as well for celebration.

There is nothing wrong if you are single. It is not a rule that only couples should celebrate love on this day. You love yourself too. Let’s celebrate Valentine’s Day using the following ways.

1)     Do what you love to do.

It can be watching a movie, a series, playing games, or anything you love. It can be any hobby which gives you happiness. You can make sure that you do what you love to do.

2) Make yourself feel special

You are special. You can make yourself special the way you want to make yourself feel special. You can cook for yourself, you can dress up, get ready, shop or spend money for yourself, go for a single date and the list goes on. You can gift yourself. You can do whatever makes you feel special.

3)      Make others feel loved

It is a very good thing to remind others who you care for and who care for you that you love them. You can make them feel special the way you want to make them feel special. This special day is not just for romantic relationships but for the relationships which matter to you.

4)     Write a letter of love to the special person “YOU”

Words have a very important impact on others. Love letters are one of the ways of expressing love. You can write a love letter to yourself, the person who understands you better, the person who cares for you. You can list all the achievements you have made, all the happiest moments of your life, you can just spend time with yourself. You can also write letters to those who you love.

5)     Do Charity.

There are many orphan children, many people who are about to die, many elders whose son/daughter left them in old age homes, many people who lack love in their life the most. You can visit an NGO or an old age home, spend time with these people, and make their day special. You can throw a party for children. You can make them feel loved. You can do Charity in the form you like.

Lastly, I would like to point out that there is nothing wrong if you don’t want to celebrate this day. You can just treat it like any other day. It is your choice and you should do what gives you happiness. Happy Valentine’s Day!
