“PM Modi Tempts Inspiring Speaker Chanda Devi to Join Politics”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended an intriguing offer to Chanda Devi, a standout speaker in Varanasi, acknowledging her compelling speech and success story. Devi, a member of a self-help group benefiting from the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, caught the attention of PM Modi with her articulate presentation on utilizing government loan schemes. Impressed by her ability to captivate the audience, Modi proposed, “You are giving such a good speech; will you contest the elections?”

Commending Chanda Devi for her speech, Modi expressed admiration, prompting her response, “We are inspired by you. We keep pace with the efforts you make. We are fortunate that we are speaking in front of you.” Devi shared her journey, emphasizing the positive impact of government schemes on her financial independence.

Chanda Devi’s Rise from Adversity During PM Modi’s interaction with beneficiaries in Varanasi’s Barki village, Chanda Devi narrated her transformative journey. Obtaining an initial loan of Rs. 15,000, she initiated a successful vegetable farming venture, not only repaying the loan but also elevating her family’s living standards. Becoming a sakhi (banking assistant) with the Radha Mahila Sahayata Samooh self-help group, Devi now empowers other women.

Devi, expressing gratitude for the Modi government’s schemes, highlighted her annual savings of Rs 1.3 lakh. PM Modi inquired about her education, learning that she had completed Class 12. Intrigued by her public speaking skills, Modi inquired about her political background and suggested she consider contesting elections.

In subsequent conversations, Modi discussed further opportunities for women to leverage schemes for financial independence. Acknowledging Chanda Devi during a Barki rally, Modi reiterated, “Through this Sankalp Yatra, I have had the opportunity to know the strength and potential within society.” The Prime Minister’s recognition and proposal underscore the impact of grassroots stories in shaping political narratives.
