Gunjan Jhunjhunwala is the founder of Sandbox Clothing, a kidswear brand that aims to help kids love themselves. She calls it the Self Love Revolution.

Even while working at Google, Gunjan Jhunjhunwala knew that she wanted something much bigger than a 9 to 5 job. So she quit Google to pursue an MBA.

Born and raised in Shillong, Gunjan’s father ran a store and she often spent time at the counter and billing section. After her marriage, Gunjan and her husband initially started a uniform brand that catered to the students’ and parents’ needs. However, six years later, Gunjan had a fallout in her marriage and lost her company along with her divorce. She was left with nothing but a three-month-old baby.

She moved back to Shillong to process what had happened – read books, meditated, practised yoga, listened to life coaches, and searched the internet to seek answers. One day as she was running in the beautiful parks of Shillong she got the idea for her new business. She remembered how as a kid, she was never advised to love herself. And so, she decided to make a clothing brand for kids that helped them to appreciate and love themselves.

Gunjan had noticed how her young daughter loved to dress up like herself. So she began to make mini versions of clothes that she wore and dressed up her daughter in them. Soon others began to order these clothes from her. Then she established this as a business by the name ‘The Sandbox Clothing Co’ in Bangalore. The company produces all sorts of garments for kids aged 0-14.

“My focus was to do a good quality mini-me collection as kids want to ape the fashion sense of their parents. From having the little bags as an add-on to a dress to the detachable flowers, I imbibed this concept in the designs,” says Gunjan. “Messages ranging from “I love me” in socks to “Make yourself a Priority” can be found in our limited edition. We follow very stringent quality parameters. From the trims selected and the fabric to the packaging, every stage undergoes thorough QC and pilot sampling before putting the style in production. In our packages, we insert action-mation cards that can be put up in study desks, mirrors, etc., to serve as a reminder throughout the day. At other times, these can be found stitched along with the wash care labels.”

The brand is available on top marketplaces like Amazon, Flipkart, FirstCry, Hopscotch, Meesho, Nykaa, Ajio B2B and Ajio B2C, besides its very own B2B and B2C websites.
