Fitness Influencer Beatriz’s Nightmare: Mycobacterium Abscessus Infection After Fat-Burning Injections
Maintaining physical fitness is essential for a healthy lifestyle, but sometimes resorting to artificial methods to stay in shape can lead to unforeseen health complications. This was the unfortunate experience of fitness influencer Beatriz Amma, who, after seeking a package of fat-burning injections, found herself in the midst of a terrifying health crisis.
At just 23 years old, Beatriz decided to undergo a series of fat-burning injections at a luxury spa, believing they would help her achieve her fitness goals. Little did she know that this decision would lead to one of the most harrowing episodes of her life. She received a total of 60 injections in her arms, body, and legs. Soon after the treatment, her body began exhibiting distressing symptoms, including fever, chills, shivers, and cold sweats. Two days later, welts began to appear on her skin at the injection sites.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, Beatriz described her ordeal as her body “rotting” in bed, with her skin “bursting open” and her body seemingly “eating itself alive.” Her diagnosis was Mycobacterium Abscessus, a rare and dangerous infection.
Mycobacterium Abscessus is a type of bacteria primarily found in water, soil, and dust. It’s known to contaminate medications and various products. This bacterium targets the skin and the soft tissues beneath it, causing severe infections. Left untreated, it can lead to chronic lung diseases, such as cystic fibrosis. Injections that breach the skin’s natural defenses can make the body susceptible to this deadly infection.
The symptoms of Mycobacterium Abscessus infection include redness, swollen blisters, painful boils, fever, chills, and muscle aches. Beatriz’s condition was so severe that a doctor even suggested she might not be able to wear a bikini, as people could mistake her for having monkeypox, another infectious disease characterized by fluid-filled spots that spread through contact with an infected person’s skin, coughs, and sneezes.
Despite the challenges she faced, Beatriz is determined to promote body positivity and empower people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to feel beautiful, both internally and externally, regardless of their scars or adversities.
