FabIndia, the well-known Indian retail brand supported by billionaire Azim Premji, has appointed Rajeshwari Srinivasan as its new CEO. Srinivasan, a former Tata employee, will replace Viney Singh, who served as the CEO of FabIndia for over 16 years. Srinivasan has a wealth of experience in the retail industry, having worked for Tata Group’s Trent Hypermarket and Landmark Group’s Max Fashion. She has also served on the board of directors for several retail companies.
As the new CEO of FabIndia, Srinivasan will be responsible for leading the brand’s expansion into new markets and enhancing its digital presence.
FabIndia is known for its traditional Indian textiles and handicrafts and has a loyal customer base both in India and abroad. The company’s founder, John Bissell, started FabIndia in 1960 with the goal of supporting Indian artisans and preserving traditional crafts. Since then, the brand has grown to over 300 stores across India and overseas. Azim Premji’s investment firm, PremjiInvest, acquired a 7.3% stake in FabIndia in 2019, valuing the company at around $400 million. With Srinivasan at the helm, the company aims to continue its growth trajectory and further cement its position as a leading player in the Indian retail industry.
