In a remarkable journey of determination and resilience, Anju Sharma, an IAS officer, overcame academic setbacks to crack the UPSC exam on her first attempt at the age of 22.

During her school years, Anju faced challenges, failing her chemistry pre-boards in Class 10 and the economics paper in Class 12. However, these setbacks didn’t deter her spirit. She firmly believed that success is born out of experiencing failure and used it as a stepping stone toward achievement.

Supported by her mother and armed with the lessons learned, Anju adopted a proactive approach to her studies. She began preparing for college exams well in advance, which ultimately earned her a gold medal. After graduating with a BSc and an MBA from Jaipur, she continued her pursuit of the Civil Services Examination.

At the age of 22, Anju’s perseverance paid off as she cracked the UPSC exam on her first try, making her family proud and securing her place among the top scorers. Her success story serves as an inspiration for aspiring civil servants and reinforces the idea that setbacks should never define one’s potential.

Currently serving as the principal secretary in the Government Education Department’s Secretariat in Gandhinagar, Anju Sharma continues to contribute to society with her dedication and passion for public service.
