Guneet Monga, the producer of the critically acclaimed documentary “The Elephant Whisperer,” recently spoke about the pressure she felt after winning an Oscar. Monga, who received the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject in 2019, revealed that the victory put a lot of expectations on her shoulders.

In an interview, Monga emphasized that filmmakers should not create content with the sole purpose of winning awards. Instead, she encourages creators to focus on telling compelling stories that resonate with audiences. “You never make content for an award,” Monga stated. “You make content because you have a story to tell, and you want the world to see it.”

Monga also discussed how her Oscar win allowed her to gain more visibility and resources, but at the same time, it made her feel like she had to live up to a certain standard. “When you win something like an Oscar, you get a lot of attention, and there are a lot of expectations that come with it,” she shared. “But I’ve learned that you have to focus on the work and the stories you want to tell. You can’t let the pressure of awards distract you from your passion.”
