In a terrifying incident in West Bengal’s Malda, a man brandishing a gun barged into a classroom full of children, threatening to hold them hostage. However, the timely action of the police prevented a disaster, according to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The police swiftly responded, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Azhar Uddin tackled the gunman, pinning him to the ground and disarming him. As the frightened children rushed out of the classroom, the police arrested the man.

While congratulating the police and the media for averting a tragedy, Chief Minister Banerjee raised concerns about a conspiracy against Bengal, accusing Delhi of being involved. She questioned where the gunman learned the word “hostages” and who gave him the idea that he could take hostages like this.

However, West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar criticized the Chief Minister for the law-and-order situation in the state, citing incidents like this as evidence of the worsening situation.
