The president of the Haryana Women’s Commission, Renu Bhatia, recently attended legal issues and cybercrime awareness program organized by a college in the Kaithal district. During her speech, Bhatia discussed the issue of cybercrime and the increasing incidents of sexual harassment against women. She highlighted that the commission’s ability to help women in certain situations has been limited by the Supreme Court’s ruling on live-in relationships.
Bhatia said that most of the cases they receive involve cohabiting couples, and even though they may not be able to do much about these situations, they try to resolve them as quickly as possible. The current law on domestic partnerships has also led to an increase in crime rates, with some families being destroyed as a result. Bhatia emphasized the need for a revision in the law to protect families and prevent such incidents from happening. In her speech, Bhatia urged female students to be cautious and aware of cybercrime, especially in the context of live-in relationships. She also emphasized that girls need to be more knowledgeable and aware of their future plans before entering into any such relationships.
