Indian sprinter Hima Das, a prominent athlete, has faced a provisional suspension from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). The suspension is a result of her accumulating three whereabouts failures within a span of 12 months.

This setback has added to her challenges, as Hima Das was already excluded from the Hangzhou Asian Games team due to an earlier injury sustained this year. An anonymous Indian team official confirmed the suspension, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

Hima Das now faces the possibility of a two-year ban, though the duration may be reduced to a minimum of one year depending on the severity of her fault.

Hima Das is renowned for her achievements in athletics, particularly winning a silver medal in the 400m individual event at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. She was also part of the successful women’s 4x400m and mixed 4x400m relay teams that secured gold and silver medals in Jakarta.

Under the rules of the World Athletics Anti-Doping (WADA), accumulating three whereabouts failures, which can include filing failures or missed tests, within a year constitutes a violation of anti-doping regulations.
