Actor Raveena Tandon emphasized the need for the Hindi film industry to learn from the television and over-the-top (OTT) platforms in terms of promoting women’s representation and pay parity during a panel discussion on ‘Nari Shakti’ at the ‘National Conclave on Mann Ki Baat @100’. Tandon acknowledged the progress made by women in the film industry, breaking through the glass ceiling in front of and behind the camera and penetrating every male bastion. However, she highlighted that issues such as representation and pay disparity still exist.

Tandon emphasized that the television industry and OTT platforms are setting an example in promoting gender equality by paying women better and producing shows with women protagonists. She stressed that it is high time for the Hindi film industry to follow their lead and take steps towards bridging the gender pay gap and providing more opportunities for women to showcase their talents.

The actor’s comments come at a time when the entertainment industry is under scrutiny for its unequal treatment of women, both on and off the screen. With the rise of the #MeToo movement and the push for greater gender representation and diversity in media, it is becoming increasingly important for the industry to address these issues.
