Historic NDA Passing Out Parade to Include Women Cadets
The 145th National Defence Academy (NDA) course is set to make history as the first batch of women cadets joins the passing out parade alongside their male counterparts. Scheduled for November 30, the parade will be under the review of President Droupadi Murmu, who serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
In a significant stride towards gender inclusion, 19 women cadets were admitted to the NDA, Khadakwasla, last year. The institution, renowned for producing the nation’s top military officers, now sees these women cadets entering their second year of rigorous military-cum-academic training.
A defense official highlighted that the women cadets will actively participate in the marching contingent during the passing out parade. Typically, the parade involves second and third-year cadets, marking a pivotal moment for the young women as they proudly march alongside their male peers.
The official also shared a teaser on a social media platform, inviting the public to witness the historic event. The post from the defense spokesperson in Pune urged everyone to “get ready to witness the Passing Out Parade of the 145th #NDA course on 30th Nov 23.”
This groundbreaking move aligns with the ongoing efforts to enhance gender diversity and inclusivity within the armed forces. The inclusion of women in the NDA passing out parade symbolizes a significant milestone, reflecting the dedication to fostering an environment where both men and women can contribute equally to the country’s defense forces. As the nation eagerly awaits this historic event, it underscores the strides being made towards breaking gender barriers in traditionally male-dominated spheres.
