Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) Uttar Pradesh Receives HUDCO Award for Best Practices in Cleanliness

On the 53rd Foundation Day of Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) Uttar Pradesh received the prestigious HUDCO Award (2022-2023) for Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment in the country. The award was presented to Neha Sharma, State Mission Director, Uttar Pradesh, by Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, and included a reward of one lakh rupees.

The campaign was conducted from January 14 to 24 and involved the cleaning of 75 tourist and historical places in the state. The general public was encouraged to participate in cleaning the ghats, ponds, markets, and other commercial areas through various activities, including street plays, puppet shows, and plow runs. More than 11 lakh people from across the state participated in the campaign.

The HUDCO Award 2022-23 received entries from across the country, and after several rounds of trials, the Jury Board selected the ‘Swachh Virasat’ campaign for a field visit. The Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited Lucknow regional office team inspected several places, including Imambara and Residency in Lucknow, on April 3, before selecting the ‘Swachh Virasat’ campaign for the Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment 2022-23 award.
