The International Cricket Council (ICC) and UNICEF have teamed up with the Board of Control for Cricket in India and Sri Lanka Cricket to launch the “One Day 4 Children” campaign during the India vs. Sri Lanka One Day International (ODI) World Cup match on November 2. This initiative aims to unite the billions of cricket fans worldwide with a message of hope and support for every child’s survival and well-being.

The iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will be bathed in blue, symbolizing a global movement to support children’s rights. The #BeAChampion campaign will leverage the extensive reach of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup to create a better world for children and promote gender equality. Fans attending the sold-out match will receive LED wristbands, which will synchronize with a stadium-wide blue light show during the second inning. Renowned cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Muttiah Muralitharan, who are UNICEF and ICC Ambassadors, will join Indian and Sri Lankan players in amplifying the One Day 4 Children message.

Contributions raised during the campaign will aid UNICEF’s efforts to provide equal opportunities for every child. The campaign will be broadcast globally through ICC’s partner, Star Sports, and supported by ICC Commercial Partners, who will make in-match donations.

Furthermore, the “One Day 4 Children” fixture is part of the broader ICC Cricket 4 Good strategy and coincides with the launch of Criiio 4 Good, an online life skills learning initiative developed by ICC, UNICEF, and BCCI, promoting gender equity among children. The program comprises eight free learning modules available at criiio.com/criiio4good, with endorsement from the Indian Ministry of Education. UNICEF programs will also host cricket clinics in host cities, giving children the opportunity to play alongside their heroes.

Regional UNICEF Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar expressed his enthusiasm for championing equality for children worldwide, emphasizing that every cricketer started as a child with a dream.
