The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey team received a spectacular welcome at Bengaluru airport as they returned home with the Asia Cup trophy. Their triumph in the tournament marked their maiden victory in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup held in Japan.

In an intense final match against Korea, India emerged victorious with a score of 2-1, securing their place in the upcoming FIH Women’s Junior World Cup in Chile. Neelam, the Indian defender who scored a crucial goal in the final, expressed her pride and happiness upon their return.

Captain Preeti shared her determination to win the World Cup, highlighting the support and guidance received from their coaches and staff. The Hockey India Executive Board also announced cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh for each player and Rs 1 lakh for the support staff in recognition of their outstanding performance.

The Indian team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, showcasing their dominance with impressive victories against Uzbekistan, Malaysia, and Chinese Taipei. Their journey culminated in a hard-fought 1-0 win over Japan, propelling them to claim the prestigious title.

With this achievement, the Indian junior women’s hockey team has not only secured the Asia Cup but has also earned the opportunity to compete on the global stage in the FIH Junior World Cup.
