The Indian Women’s Hockey Team displayed an impressive performance, securing a resounding 7-1 victory against Japan at the Women’s Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier in Salalah, Oman.
Taking the lead early in the game, Mahima Choudhary (7′, 30′) showcased her form with two goals. Akshata Dhekale (8′), Mariana Kujur (12′), Jyoti (23′), Monika Dipi Toppo (27′), and Ajmina Kujur (30′) also contributed to India’s scorecard. For Japan, Risa Nakasechi (9′) found the target.
With confidence from their previous win, India initiated the match with an aggressive stance. Mahima Choudhary’s seventh-minute goal set the tone, swiftly followed by Akshata Dhekale’s (8′) fine field goal. Japan countered with Risa Nakasechi’s (9′) goal, but India quickly responded with Mariana Kujur’s (12′) strike. By halftime, India led 3-1.
The second half saw both teams pushing hard, attempting to breach each other’s defenses. Jyoti’s goal in the 23rd minute extended India’s led to 4-1. Monika Dipi Toppo (27′) further bolstered India’s position, making it 5-1. In the final minutes, Ajmina Kujur (30′) and Mahima Choudhary (30′) added two more goals, sealing India’s triumph with a convincing 7-1 victory.
