Many Indian proposals well supported by G20 countries: FM Sitharaman

Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has reported that several Indian proposals have gained strong backing from G20 countries. The statement was given during a press conference after the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting held online on April 7, 2023.
Sitharaman noted that various Indian proposals on issues including climate finance, global minimum tax, and digital taxation have all received positive feedback from G20 members. She also mentioned that India’s efforts to promote green finance and inclusive growth were appreciated by participating countries.
The Finance Minister stated that the world must cooperate and coordinate to address challenges such as climate change, sustainable development, and economic recovery. She expressed confidence in the G20‘s ability to work toward these objectives.
Sitharaman underlined that India would continue collaborating with G20 countries to encourage sustainable and inclusive economic growth. She stressed the importance of a coordinated and balanced approach to global economic issues, taking into consideration all countries’ unique needs and priorities.
The G20 comprises 19 countries and the European Union, representing the world’s leading economies. It is a forum for international economic cooperation and decision-making, with a focus on matters such as trade, investment, and financial regulation.
India has actively participated in G20 meetings and advocated for global financial architecture reform to create a more inclusive and representative system. The country has also urged greater international cooperation on issues like climate change and sustainable development.
