The Indian government is considering recruiting women as constables in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and other paramilitary forces, according to recent statements made in the Delhi High Court. The move is part of efforts to increase gender diversity in these forces and provide more opportunities for women in the security sector.

During a hearing on a case regarding the recruitment of women in the CISF, the central government informed the court that it is considering the proposal to recruit women as constables in the CISF, as well as other forces such as the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

The court had previously directed the government to explore the possibility of recruiting women in these forces and provide an update in the matter.

The move towards greater gender diversity in the security forces is significant, as women have traditionally been underrepresented in these fields. However, the inclusion of women in these forces has been steadily increasing in recent years, with women now serving in combat roles in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The recruitment of women as constables in the CISF and other paramilitary forces is expected to provide more opportunities for women to serve in the security sector and contribute to the country’s defence.
