Humble Beginnings: Roots and Resilience

VoB members Firda Kurnia, Marsya, and Euis Siti Aisyah (Sitti) grew up in Garut, West Java, a conservative region. Raised with traditional Islamic values and a simple agricultural life, their journey into heavy metal music was unexpected. Their musical path began when they met Cep Ersa Eka Susila Satia, known as “Abah Ersa.” Initially pushed towards theatre, the girls found their passion in music, inspired by the band System of a Down. With Abah Ersa’s guidance, they honed their skills, covering famous metal songs and impressing audiences with their talent.

Overcoming Challenges and Criticism

VoB faced many challenges in a society with strict gender norms. As devout Muslims wearing hijabs, entering the male-dominated heavy metal scene brought backlash. They were often criticized and labeled as rebels, even by their school.

Empowerment Through Music

Despite the criticism, VoB used their music to challenge stereotypes and empower marginalized voices. Their lyrics, which resonate with people worldwide, have made them symbols of resilience and defiance. They inspire many young women to embrace their true selves and stand strong against adversity.

Gaining Global Recognition

VoB’s talent and dedication caught the attention of music icons like Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. Their international tours in the US, France, and the Netherlands showcased their universal message, earning them admiration and acclaim from diverse audiences.

Advocacy and Activism

VoB is committed to advocating for social change and environmental sustainability. They aim to amplify the voices of the marginalized and inspire a brighter, more inclusive future with every performance and lyric.

Voice of Baceprot’s journey from a small town in Indonesia to the global stage of Glastonbury is a testament to their resilience and talent. They continue to break barriers and redefine what it means to be a metal band in today’s world.
