Kangana Ranaut‘s highly-anticipated aerial action film, Tejas, had a modest collection at the box office on its first day. Early estimates suggest that the film collected ₹1.25 crore on its debut day, with a low occupancy rate of 6.83 percent on Friday. The film’s performance was particularly subdued in major cinema chains such as PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, where it earned ₹85 lakhs, contributing 60 percent to the total earnings.

This lukewarm start is part of a pattern of box office struggles for Kangana Ranaut. Her last film to make substantial numbers was in 2019 with Manikarnika. Since then, the actress’s public image and goodwill have declined due to her frequent controversial comments, often perceived as publicity stunts.

Tejas aims for an opening weekend collection of ₹6 crore in an ideal scenario. The film is projected to reach a lifetime collection of around ₹10 crores, given its reported budget of ₹45 crore.

Tejas tells the story of Tejas Gill, an Air Force pilot, and aims to inspire a deep sense of national pride among Indians. The film highlights the unwavering dedication and courage of Indian Air Force pilots as they confront various challenges in defending the nation. Kangana Ranaut’s character embarks on a mission to rescue hostages from terrorists in the film.

Tejas was both written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The film boasts a diverse cast, including Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vishak Nair, Kashyap Shangari, Sunit Tandon, Rio Kapadia, Mohan Agashe, and Mushtaq Kak. The film’s music, featuring tracks like “Dil Hai Ranjhana” and “Jaan Da,” adds to its appeal.

While Tejas had a modest start at the box office collection, its future performance in the coming days remains uncertain.
