Kate Middleton Gives Health Update After Parade
Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, attended King Charles’ birthday parade in London on June 15. This was her first public appearance since revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. She had disclosed that she was undergoing chemotherapy.
Surprise Announcement & Cancer Update
Barely three months after announcing her diagnosis, the Princess communicated through Kensington Palace on X (formerly Twitter) that she would make a brief appearance at the Trooping the Colours ceremony. “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she wrote. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well. My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.”
She expressed hope to attend a few more public engagements throughout the summer but acknowledged that her recovery was still ongoing.
Jubilant Mood of the Day
On the day of the parade, the Princess of Wales looked radiant as she arrived with her husband, Prince William, and their three children—Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte. Initially appearing apprehensive, her mood soon matched the celebratory spirit of the event, as reported by The Independent.
She was seen sharing a private joke with Prince William, making him chuckle, and laughed heartily as her youngest son danced during the procession. The Princess was charmingly elegant in a previously worn black and white coat dress with a bow at the neckline.
However, Entertainment Tonight noted that despite her radiant appearance, the event likely took a toll on her health amid her ongoing treatment. A source close to the royal household told People, “She has been doing what’s right for her and recovering privately at home. She is dealing with it the best she can.”
