Lauren Gustin, a women’s basketball player for Brigham Young University (BYU), has entered the transfer portal for her final year of eligibility, according to head coach Jeff Judkins. Gustin played in all 28 games for the Cougars last season, earning her a spot on the All-West Coast Conference First Team.

Gustin, who is from Idaho Falls, Idaho, was a highly recruited player coming out of high school and committed to playing for BYU over several other Division I programs, including Utah, Utah State, and Boise State.

Last season, Gustin averaged 16.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, which helped BYU finish with a 19-9 record and a second-place finish in the West Coast Conference. She also achieved a career milestone of scoring her 1,000th career point in a game against Loyola Marymount in February.

Entering the transfer portal is not an uncommon decision for college basketball players, as many opt to explore their options after completing their junior year. Gustin will now have the chance to consider offers from other programs and potentially complete her final season at a different school.
