West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has warned against any form of violence or communal tension during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. After Bengal witnessed violence and unrest on Ram Navami, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday issued a warning to prevent untoward incidents during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on April 6. In a tweet, Banerjee said that the occasion should be celebrated with peace and harmony and that any attempt to disrupt this would not be tolerated.

The chief minister’s statement comes after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) announced a grand celebration of Hanuman Jayanti across West Bengal. The VHP has also reportedly urged Hindus to organize processions and take out rallies.

Banerjee’s warning against violence is significant, given the history of communal tensions in the state. West Bengal has witnessed several incidents of violence between Hindus and Muslims in recent years, particularly during religious festivals.

Banerjee has been a vocal critic of the BJP and has accused the party of trying to polarize the state on communal lines. The Trinamool Congress, which Banerjee heads, is locked in a bitter battle with the BJP ahead of the state assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place in a few weeks.
