Morning Moments: A Mother’s Love in the Kitchen

As I stepped into my cozy kitchen at 5am, the soft glow of the appliances lit up the darkness, and my heart swelled with warmth and purpose. My daughters’ snack and lunch boxes for school were my top priority, and I reveled in the quiet morning hours, savoring the stillness before the chaos of the day began. It was my “me time,” and I cherished every moment of it!

As I brewed a steaming cup of tea, my favorite morning ritual, I felt a sense of tranquility wash over me. I settled into my favorite spot on the balcony, cradling my tea and watching the horizon for the first hints of sunrise. The birds began their sweet serenade, and I closed my eyes, letting the peacefulness of the moment wash over me. It was a moment of mindfulness, and I was grateful for it!

But as the sun slowly rose, my mind turned to the task at hand: what to make for my dear daughter? I pondered the options, weighing flavors and textures, nutritional value and delight. Ah, the joy of cooking for loved ones! The kitchen, once a humble space, transformed into a haven of creativity and love.

And then, my heart said “why not try something new?” So, I embarked on my Cheesy Garlic Noodles Adventure!

Step 1: Cook the Noodles

I brought a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil and added Hakka style noodles, salt, and a few drops of oil. I cooked them until al dente, then drained the water, sprinkled oil, and set the noodles aside for their grand transformation.

Step 2: Prepare the Skillet

I heated a skillet over medium heat and added 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of oil. I let it melt, then added minced garlic and sautéed until fragrant and slightly golden. I also added bell pepper, black pepper, and salt to give it an extra boost of flavor!

Step 3: Combine Sauce and Garlic

I poured in the sauce mixture of chilli sauce and vinegar, and watched it meld with the butter and garlic. Then, I added the noodles and pieces of cottage cheese and stirred until everything was well combined. I let it simmer for a few minutes, and the aroma that filled the kitchen was incredible!

And then, my 9-year-old daughter walked into the kitchen and her eyes widened with

“Mamma, you made NOODLES! My favorite!” she exclaimed, bouncing up and down with excitement.

“I know, sweetie! I made something different  Cheesy Garlic Noodles!” I replied, smiling at her enthusiasm.

“YAY! You’re the bestest cook ever, Mommy!” she said, giving me a big hug. “Can I have some now, please? Pleeease?”

“Of course, dig in!” I said, serving her a steaming hot plate of noodles.

“Mmmmmmm… this is so good, Mommy! You’re the best!” she said, taking a bite and closing her eyes in delight.

I smiled, feeling happy and content, knowing that my daughter loved my cooking. It was moments like these that made all the hard work worth it.

“Thanks, sweetie! I’m glad you like it,” I said, hugging her back.

“I love it, Mommy! You’re the bestest cook in the whole Wide world!” she exclaimed, giving me a big hug and a kiss.

And with that, our morning moment was filled with joy, love, and delicious noodles!
