Monika Solanki, a 34-year-old mother, appeared for her General Stream Class 12 board exams after eight years of break. Her daughter, Dolly, a student of Swaminarayan International School, was also appearing for her exams, making Monika more nervous about her performance. However, both mother and daughter had an excellent teacher in Jagadishbhai, who taught them every day to ensure that their board exams went smoothly.

Monika, who had only studied till Class 10 before her marriage, was encouraged by her husband to pursue further studies. Although she only cleared her Class 10 board exams in 2015, she did not let that deter her from pursuing her college education.

Monika wishes to pursue a college degree and hopes to attend the same college as her daughter.

For Dolly, it was a reversal of roles as she had memories of her mother teaching her in the primary section. Now, she clears her mother’s doubts in subjects like statistics and accounts. Dolly believes that it is the responsibility of every child to support the dreams of their parents.

Monika’s decision to pursue her college education is not only to fulfill her own dreams but also to set an example that a mother and daughter can take up academics together, regardless of their age. Monika’s family, including her husband and children, have been supportive of her journey, and they helped her balance her household chores and studies.
