Nasrin Javadi, a labor activist currently incarcerated in Evin prison, is being denied adequate medical attention, despite her deteriorating physical condition.

At 65 years old, Nasrin Javadi suffers from various ailments, including osteoporosis. Despite her repeated pleas to receive medical leave, the authorities have been using various excuses to prevent her transfer to a hospital. It is imperative that she be granted medical leave to access specialized treatment and receive crucial osteoporosis medication.

Throughout her time in prison, Nasrin Javadi has experienced numerous health issues. However, the prison’s dispensary or emergency services only provide temporary relief through IV injections, failing to address her underlying conditions. In 2022, Ms. Javadi was summoned to Tehran’s Public and Revolutionary Court, where she was sentenced to five years. Despite her lawyer submitting a doctor’s certificate attesting to her inability to withstand imprisonment, Nasrin Javadi was ultimately sent to Evin prison on July 2, 2022.

Nasrin Javadi is a former employee of the Medical Equipment Distribution company, a social security retiree, a founding board member of the Labor Council of Social Security Retirees (BASTA), and a member of the Free Union of Iranian Workers.

Adding to her plight, Nasrin Javadi spent an arduous 50 days in solitary confinement. It is crucial that her urgent medical needs are addressed promptly and that she receives the proper care and attention her condition demands. The denial of essential medical care is a grave violation of her rights and raises concerns about the overall welfare of incarcerated women.
