Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized the importance of stability and continuity in policies to maintain Karnataka’s growth trajectory during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s rule. Speaking at the Thinkers Forum in Bengaluru, Sitharaman highlighted the need for the state to stay on track with its developmental agenda and not lose steam. She praised the BJP government’s execution of promises to the electorate, particularly in last-mile delivery, and its focus on multi-sector development.

As the state gears up for polling on May 10, the BJP has made development its central election campaign theme, claiming credit for the expansion of roads and highways, industrial park setups, and support to farmers. Sitharaman also criticized opposition parties for promising freebies without considering their budgetary impact, emphasizing the need for empowering people through provisions rather than entitlements.

Responding to a question on regulating financial influencers, Sitharaman urged caution before investing and emphasized the government’s efforts to clamp down on illegal financial apps.
