Nirmala Sitharaman to Attend World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings in the US

India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, is all set to leave for Washington DC to attend the 2023 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. The week-long trip from April 10 to April 16 will also include G20 meetings and bilateral engagements. The Minister will be hosting the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting under India’s G20 Presidency, along with G20-related side events. This visit is a great opportunity for the Minister to interact with global economists, business leaders, investors, and think tanks in roundtables. The itinerary includes engagements with the Indian Diaspora as well.

Accompanied by officials from the finance ministry, Sitharaman will attend World Bank Development Committee and IMF Committee Plenaries. She will also have bilateral meetings, a few investor sessions, and other associated meetings. Along with Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das, the Minister will jointly chair the second G20 FMCBG meeting on April 12-13, 2023. Approximately 350 delegates from G20 members, 13 invitee countries, and various international and regional organizations will participate and engage in multilateral discussions centered around a broad spectrum of pressing global issues.
