NIT Patna Student Breaks Record with Rs 1.6 Crore Package, Beats IITs and IIMs
In India, engineering and management students from premier institutes like IITs and IIMs often make headlines for their lucrative job offers after graduation. However, in 2022, it was a student from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna who stole the spotlight by bagging the highest-ever package of Rs 1.6 crores in the institute’s placement drive.
Aditi Tiwari, a final-year student of Electronics and Communication, was the lucky one to receive the historic package. Tiwari’s achievement is significant as this package is not even offered to students from the country’s top engineering and management colleges. She was hired by Facebook as a front-end engineer. Tiwari’s father works at Tata Steel, and her mother is a government school teacher.
NIT Patna also recorded an impressive 110% overall placement record in 2022, despite the COVID-19 pandemic affecting campus recruitments for two years. Before Tiwari, the highest package at NIT Patna was Rs 50-60 lakhs.
Meanwhile, an IIM student, Avni Malhotra, made the news with her job offer from Microsoft worth Rs 64.61 lakhs. Malhotra, based in Jaipur, was hired for her ‘organizational competence’ and prior experience of three years with Infosys. The placement offer is an increase of 146.7 percent in the highest salary from last year at IIM Sambalpur.
