Oscars 2025: A Night to Remember—Queen Latifah Honors Legendary Quincy Jones!

At the upcoming 97th Academy Awards, Queen Latifah is set to honor the iconic Quincy Jones with a special musical tribute. Known for his vast contributions to music as a record producer, composer, arranger, conductor, trumpeter, and bandleader, Jones boasts an impressive collection of accolades, including 28 Grammy Awards. The announcement came from executive producer Raj Kapoor during a press briefing. He expressed excitement about the performance dedicated to Jones, stating, “We’ve envisioned a heartfelt moment that celebrates the spirit and greatness of Quincy.”
Earlier this year, Jones received a Governor’s Award, further recognizing his influence in the industry. Kapoor described the tribute as “beautiful” and aimed at uplifting the audience, ensuring it would be a joyous occasion.
In addition to Queen Latifah’s tribute, the Oscars will feature a medley from “Wicked,” performed by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Other performers include Blackpink’s Lisa, currently seen in “The White Lotus,” along with Doja Cat and Raye. The event will also highlight a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Kapoor elaborated on the themes for the 2025 Oscars, emphasizing a celebration of community and the often-overlooked individuals who contribute behind the scenes. “It’s vital to recognize those affected by recent challenges,” he mentioned, committing to creating significant moments that honor the city of Los Angeles.
Additionally, Kapoor unveiled a charitable component linked to the ceremony where attendees will have the opportunity to donate to various causes. He was joined by host Conan O’Brien and other key figures involved in the production, including executive producer Katy Mullan, co-executive producer Rob Paine, and music director Michael Bearden, among others.
