On Tuesday, the President will visit Belur Math and grace the celebration of the completion of 80 years of UCO Bank in Kolkata. Later, she will return to Santiniketan to attend the annual convocation of Visva-Bharati.
This visit is significant for the people of West Bengal, particularly women, as it highlights the importance of recognizing and honoring the contributions of leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. As the first woman tribal leader to hold the office of President, Droupadi Murmu’s visit to West Bengal is also a symbol of empowerment and inspiration for women across the state and the country.
The completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line by December or January 2024, as announced by the Railway Minister, is also a welcome development for the people of West Bengal, particularly women who often have to undertake long and arduous journeys. This new railway line will provide a faster and more convenient mode of transportation for women and other commuters.
