Princess Diana’s former hairdresser, Richard Dalton, recently shared some lighthearted memories of the late Princess of Wales, highlighting her love for the iconic 1980s TV show Dynasty and how it influenced her signature hairstyles.

In an interview, Dalton revealed that Diana was an avid fan of the American soap opera and would make him catch her up on episodes if she missed them due to royal duties. “She loved Dynasty and would make me watch it if she couldn’t because of work commitments,” Dalton recalled. “The next morning, she’d say: ‘Tell me everything!'”

Beyond her love of the show, Diana also drew inspiration from Dynasty regarding her hairstyles. The Princess of Wales became known for her voluminous 80s hair, which Dalton admitted was partly influenced by the extravagant looks on the show. “Diana loved big hair—and so did I,” Dalton explained. “We used gallons of hairspray and heated rollers to give her that 80s Dynasty look after her favorite TV show.”

Dalton also shared that Diana’s love for big hair led to a few humorous moments. One particular incident occurred when she gave birth to Prince Harry. Dalton, who was in Spain then, advised her to use hot rollers to style her hair. However, Diana ended up leaving them in for too long. “I had big, big hair,” she humorously told him later.

These charming anecdotes offer a glimpse into the personal side of Princess Diana, showcasing her sense of humor, her love for pop culture, and how she infused elements of her favorite TV shows into her iconic public image.
