PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy maintain the Top 20 spots in BWF Rankings
PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy have maintained their spots in the Top 20 in the singles rankings, according to the newly updated BWF rankings. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, remains at the ninth spot despite a first-round exit from the All-England Open this year. Prannoy, on the other hand, holds his World No.9 spot in the Men’s Singles rankings.
In contrast, Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen has dropped out of the Top 20 and fallen six spots to be placed at 25th in the Men’s Singles rankings. Lakshya had a disappointing performance at the All-England Open, where he lost to Denmark’s Anders Antonsen.
Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal has also slid further down the rankings and is now placed 32nd in the world. Teresa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, the Indian duo, reached the semifinals at the All England Open this year but dropped down one place to be ranked World No.19.
As the Swiss Open begins today, Sindhu, the defending champion, hopes to improve her performance this year, as she is yet to win a match in the tour. On the other hand, Prannoy will aim to maintain his position as the World No.9.
